WSP is currently seeking a Junior Environmental Technician to join our Environmental Team, located at our Winnipeg, MB office. Reporting to the Team Lead, this position will be responsible for the following:


  • Execute site-specific field data collection for the Environmental Group across various regions of MB
  • Travel throughout the province and out of province (typically for short periods of time) performing environmental field work
  • Assist with on-site assessment and remediation activities including; but not limited to Phase I ESA, Phase II ESA, Groundwater Monitoring, Remedial Activities, Hazardous Materials Assessments, Geotechnical Investigations and Biophysical Assessments
  • Maintain effective communication with team members
  • Complete assignments within the constraints of the project work plans and budgets
  • Prepare accurate and detailed field notes
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports including the tabulation of data and the preparation of borehole/test pit logs
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies and expectations
  • Other duties as assigned/required


  • Technical College Certificate or University degree in environmental engineering/science or related discipline
  • 1 - 4 years' experience in field data collection such as; sampling of soil, water, vapor and hazardous materials
  • Excellent organization, written, technical reporting and communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and database entry
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships in a team environment
  • Valid and fully licensed driver
  • Enjoy the outdoors, as fieldwork will likely comprise approximately 50% - 70% of the work week
  • Qualified to retain membership in an industry related professional association
  • Qualified to achieve federal government reliance security clearance
  • Working knowledge of Unified Soil Classification System would be considered an asset
  • Experience with Occupational First Aid Training would be considered an asset
