WSP is currently seeking a Junior Building Envelope Technician to join our Building Science team, located at our Ottawa, ON office. Reporting to the Project Manager, this person will provide support for design, field investigations, construction field reviews, on-site testing (windows, air-tightness, materials tests, etc.), and similar activities in support of diagnostics and remediation of existing buildings and development of new construction.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in building investigations and field reviews;
  • Develop and prepare engineering drawings, plans, diagrams, and layouts from sketches in the areas of reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, roofing, windows, and other;
  • Prepare AutoCAD drawings, and quantity and cost estimates;
  • Conduct quality control checks of design drawings;
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduates of a Civil Engineering Technology or Architectural Technology program with minimum of 2 years’ experience in related field;
  • AutoCAD proficiency essential;
  • Working knowledge of Revit required and a strong proficiency is a definite asset;
  • Meticulous attention to detail essential;
  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel;
  • Strong mathematical skills;
  • Exposure to a construction environment would be considered an asset;
  • Ability to multi-task in a multidisciplinary environment;
  • Exceptional organizational, prioritizing, and time management skills;
  • Willingness to work overtime when required;
  • Ability to work individually as well as part of a team;
  • Good oral and written communication abilities essential.
