POSITION DESCRIPTION

Based in Montreal and reporting to the CFO Canada, you will lead the financial accounting and control function for WSP Canada and its consolidated entities. The Corporate Controller - Canada is responsible for developing and overseeing all financial, accounting and control functions of the organization. The Corporate Controller – Canada will ensure that the company has the systems, procedures and a solid control environment in place to support the operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the statutory accounting function for Canada (WSP Canada Inc. and its affiliates) including the general ledger, fixed asset, statutory month-end statutory reporting and financial statements;
  • Ensure robust, efficient and effective processes of the accounting and control team;
  • Manage the month end process including the preparation of the consolidated balance sheet and income statements for WSP Canada Inc. and its affiliated entities;
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting for statutory obligations to the Parent company (Global);
  • Coordinate quarterly and annual reporting requirements with external auditors and the Global Finance team;
  • Implement rigorous policies, procedures and systems required to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial activities from a statutory and compliance perspective;
  • Manage, implement and improve internal controls and related systems and processes in a Bill 198, Canadian public company, environment and act as the primary liaison Global counterparts;
  • Review and update accounting and administrative policies and procedures to meet executive and operational needs, ensuring compliance to applicable Canadian IFRS principles;
  • Participate actively in the preparation of financial budgets, forecasts and cash flows by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data;
  • Coordinate financial audits, respond to auditors comments concerning finances and operations and oversee required action to address deficiencies.;
  • Oversee intercompany transactions and reconciliations on a monthly basis;
  • Provide financial and controlling support to corporate functions, including periodic reporting and analysis for the good management of the functions;
  • Other responsibilities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional accounting designation, CPA, CA
  • Strong understanding of IFRS, specifically revenue recognition in POC and Time & Material environments
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in accounting and finance, with more than 5 years in a similar role within a large company, central function environment
  • ERP systems experience, Deltek preferred or similar
  • Proven team player with strong leadership skills
  • High degree of collaboration and customer service focus
  • Clear and effective communicator
  • Bilingual (French and English)
  • Ability to travel
