WSP is currently seeking a Marketing Manager, Buildings to join our Marketing & Communications department, located at either our Markham or Thornhill office. 

This role is responsible for leading the marketing and communications activities that support the profitable growth of WSP within the Buildings Business Line. Reporting directly to the National Vice-President, Marketing & Communications, this position is responsible for leading internal and external communications and marketing initiatives in support of the Business Line’s growth targets by effectively positioning WSP in identified markets and sectors.  The role plans, coordinates and executes innovative approaches to promoting the Business Line, through various media including marketing campaigns, promotions, presentations, qualifications, communications and collateral. This role is responsible for the development and dissemination of information in both official languages.  All activities are undertaken in support of the WSP Canada Strategic Plan and the plans of the Buildings Business Line.



  • Manage and continuously seek the improvement of the marketing and communications team;
  • Create, develop and issue internal and external communications;
  • Create, align and implement marketing plans, goals, objectives and budgets;
  • Lead, plan and execute approved communication and marketing campaigns;
  • Coordinate and liaise with business development leaders within the National Business Line, as well as other National Business Lines, to develop, deploy and execute national initiatives such as: National Accounts Management, District BD programs, Account Management (ie. Sectors), etc;
  • Provide direction and support on content development relevant to the Buildings Business Line for the company website;
  • Maintain and/or support the maintenance of the Buildings Business Line micro sites, intranet portal, SharePoint sites, newsletters, and other communications portals;
  • Create and implement processes and procedures to help streamline marketing and business development requests, track event, sponsorship spending and proposal related tasks;
  • Develop and maintain a library of templates and bespoke collateral and promotional material;
  • Assist with the coordination and preparation of qualifications packages (national, multidisciplinary, strategic or high value);
  • Coordinate, execute and attend significant regional client events, technical presentations, lunch and learns, trade shows, events, sponsorships, etc;
  • Partner with other shared services on corporate initiatives;
  • Assist with other marketing, proposal and business development related tasks, as required.


  • 8 to 10 years of progressive communications, marketing and/or business development experience;
  • College diploma or University degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration is required;
  • PMP considered an asset;
  • Bi-lingual is considered an asset;
  • Experience managing a team of direct and indirect reports/comfortable with matrix management models;
  • Experience in engineering consulting or professional services marketing is considered an asset;
  • Experience in working collaboratively with key stakeholder across the company and in influencing senior leaders;
  • Experience supporting businesses to achieve substantial portfolio growth;
  • Excellent written, analytical and oral communication skills;
  • Proven sales, negotiation, presentation and interpersonal skills thorough knowledge of current marketplace trends and activities;
  • The ability to successfully lead with little direction to meet organizational goals;
  • Confidence to influence a high caliber team to drive a business to higher performance levels;
  • Advanced people and leadership skills to effectively manage relationships which may be indirect in order to achieve consensus, direction and achievement of results;
  • A track record of creating a climate where people want to do their best through working collaboratively, empowering teams to identify and solve problems, creating a clear sense of identity with the company, and holding teams accountable for meeting their collective goals;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced and multi-task work environment;
  • “Self-Starter” and deadline driven;
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Power BI, Deltek Vision;
  • InDesign, Desktop publishing, and SharePoint skills are considered an asset.
