WSP is currently seeking a Planner to join our Planning, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design department located in our Winnipeg office. Reporting to the Manager, your responsibilities will include conducting background, demographic, research and analyses, developing planning documents and policies, undertaking land development and municipal projects, assisting with public and stakeholder engagement and coordination with clients, government agencies and professionals of other relevant disciplines within and outside the WSP offices. Compensation will depend on the number of years’ experience and role on past projects.


  • Background research and analysis;
  • Preparation of planning documents and policy development;
  • Professional consulting services to the land development industry including assistance with subdivisions design, site layouts, and the planning approval processes;
  • Client coordination and project management;
  • Proposal writing for private or public sector jobs;
  • Work in an inter disciplinary team environment;
  • Some travel will be required in neighbouring provinces / jurisdictions; and
  • Other duties as assigned .


  • Candidate should be eligible for full membership in the Manitoba Professional Planners Institute;
  • Master’s Degree in Planning or related discipline will be an asset;
  • Must have experience in administering development applications in the City of Winnipeg planning approvals system;
  • Proven time management and organizational skills;
  • Previous experience in a policy planning, land development, urban design and/or sustainable LEED ND initiatives;
  • Proven skills in graphic design and working knowledge of GIS, Sketch up and/or Adobe Suite will be an asset; and
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills .
