POSITION DESCRIPTION

WSP is currently seeking a Civil Field Technologist/ Surveyor to join our Telecommunications team in Brampton, ON. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct Field data acquisition for Telecommunications group using field survey instruments;
  • Liaise with clients when required;
  • Perform survey calculations and report deficiencies found in the field;
  • Prepare survey sketches in accordance with industry and regulatory requirements;
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends;
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate from a survey program or Civil Engineering discipline preferred but not mandatory.  Equivalent related ability/experience will be considered;
  • Previous experience and/or education in telecommunications considered an asset;
  • Experience with construction/permit drawings for the placement of telecommunication infrastructure an asset;
  • Must have completed a college program;
  • Able to manage a physically demanding workload, which includes light lifting, climbing ladders/poles, crawling in confined spaces and working in all weather conditions;
  • Familiarity with municipal PUCC plans required for the layout of roads and underground utilities is an asset;
  • Possess a valid driver’s license;
  • Fluent in English; demonstrated professional oral and written communications skills;
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and work independently under minimal supervision;
  • A willingness to travel (to serve projects from our branch offices);
  • A strong work ethic with the desire to excel and to achieve;
  • Willingness to learn, and a motivated team player
