POSITION DESCRIPTION

WSP Canada is currently seeking an experienced Finance Leader to set up and lead a key transformational initiative in the area of finance oversight and reporting of customer projects. Reporting directly to the WSP Canada Country CFO, the Senior Financial Project Manager - National will be an integral part of the successful transformation of the financial aspects of project execution for WSP across Canada, and working across all business lines.

The position will be located at either our offices in Montreal, Quebec or Thornhill, Ontario. Bilingualism is considered an asset.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a project to set system and process methodologies around contract cost and revenue recognition, aligning finance teams on ETC, EAC , project budgeting and set-up – identifying, standardizing and harmonizing best practices;
  • Develop and align Project controlling and accounting training program for the Canadian business;
  • Training and coaching of resources across Canada to support execution objectives;
  • Act as a financial technical resource and subject matter expert for Project Financial Controllership objectives and initiatives within WSP;
  • Educate and support the business through developing the framework related to best methods for financial project controlling and revenue recognition practices;
  • Work with the Project Management PMO lead on PM training alignment
  • Propose roles and responsibilities RACI matrix with the PMO for optimal project execution and oversight across business lines and service delivery models
  • With the PMO, lead project to identify different needs for process control of smaller projects across diverse delivery models across Canada.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited institution in a related field;
  • CPA,CMA designation preferred;
  • 8+ years of experience in a Senior Project Controller or Business Controller in a multi-sized project environment within the engineering consulting, construction or related industry;
  • Extensive experience with POC and T&M methods of revenue recognition
  • Previous experience within or knowledge of professional services within the engineering and design industry considered a strong asset;
  • Demonstrated experience in delivery of business change projects in a business/operational environment;
  • Strong knowledge, understanding and experience with ERP functionalities within multi-sized project environment;
  • Project management background in a matrix organization;
  • Ability to communicate with fluency in French and English, with the ability to clearly communicate and influence in both languages;
