WSP is currently seeking a CAD Drafter to join our Geomatics department, located at our Victoria office.  Reporting to the department manager this position will be responsible for creating plans from a variety of sources. The CAD Drafter role is critical in interpreting the input data and creating a final product for the client of the highest quality.


  • Carry out CAD drafting for legal and topographic survey plans

  • Calculations of 3D surfaces for volume calculations as well as creation of Air Space plans;

  • Review maps and plans for accuracy and compliance with WSP standards and completeness;

  • Maintain familiarity with current techniques and developments;

  • Ensure that the quality and accuracy of all plans for which you have responsibility to meet the WSP standards before they are delivered; and

  • Other duties as assigned/required.


  • Ideally 5+ years’ experience using AutoCAD Civil-3D and related software in the preparation of legal and engineering survey and related plans for transportation, infrastructure sectors;

  • Experience with Trimble Business Centre, and other survey calculation software is an asset;

  • Excellent computer skills with a good understanding of CAD platforms;

  • An understanding of the basic principles of surveying and engineering plan requirements;

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with strict deadlines;

  • Ability to work well as part of a team or on an individual basis;

  • The capacity to learn new software and be open to new ideas;

  • Ability to identify and set priorities; effective time management; and

  • Strong attention to detail.
