The Designer/Jr. Electrical Engineer, Power and Utilities position will provide technical design and drafting support for various projects consisting of substation, underground and overhead lines for power distribution systems. This role requires the ability to support multiple projects among offices and to prioritize work assignments. Additionally, this role requires excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.


  • Perform design tasks for electrical distribution service relocation and replacements.
  • Perform design tasks for new distribution feeders and substations.
  • Coordination with other utilities and stakeholders.
  • Create drawings (electrical diagrams, plan and profile, layout, electrical arrangement, structural, and foundation)
  • Work with drawing files in AutoCAD and Microstation.
  • Develop, modify and review drawings according to client and/or company drafting standards.
  • Review all work for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting for engineering review.


  • The minimum educational qualifications are 3 years’ of technical school education with CAD and structural drafting / design or equivalent or Associate's Degree in Architectural or Engineering Design Technologies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and working knowledge of the latest versions of AutoCAD and Micro Station is required.
  • Experience with Toronto Hydro distribution standards is required
  • Experience with PLSCAD is required
  • Two (2) or more years of experience, including direct design and drafting work in the power delivery field involving distribution systems is strongly preferred .
