WSP is currently seeking a Junior Geotechnical Engineer or EIT to join our Geotechnical department, located at our Ottawa office. Reporting to the Director, Environment - Ottawa region, the Junior Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for providing technical expertise on projects and providing project management for ongoing and new work. 


  • Working on all geotechnical assignments on projects of low to high complexity;
  • Perform all aspects of geotechnical investigations for buildings, highways, bridges, retaining walls, slope stability, and municipal infrastructure;
  • Coordinate and carry out field review of construction works and material testing of geotechnical materials;
  • Prepare and write proposals and technical reports; and
  • Conduct geotechnical engineering analyses.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Registration with PEO as an EIT is an asset
  • Bachelor degree in civil engineering, post-graduate degree in civil engineering or geological engineering;
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience, ideally with a background in geotechnical engineering and field investigations;
  • Ontario Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle;
  • Must be mobile and willing to work on a combination of field and office work;
  • ravel will be required;
  • Proficiency with common geotechnical and other software is required;
  • Excellent organizational ability, report writing and verbal communication in English are essential;
  • Ability to think and act independently, while accepting direction;
  • Enthusiastic, resourceful, organized, and detail oriented;
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate effectively and to proactively respond to time-sensitive issues;
  • Excellent computer and technical writing skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced and multi-tasked environment are essential.
