WSP is currently seeking a Junior Technician to join our Rail and Transit Team, located at our Winnipeg, MB office. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, this position will have responsibilities including heavy and light rail transit design and provide design guidance to other team members as well as a wide range of project requirements


  • Assist in the preliminary and detailed design of specifications related to heavy and light rail transit such as alignments and track work;

  • Assist with the design of roadways and railway crossings

  • Learn the fundamentals of inspection and construction field review;

  • Report preparation assistance and cost estimating;

  • Assist preparation and review of drawings;

  • Liaison with all discipline members, sub-consultants, clients, and agencies; and

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Diploma in civil engineering technology from an accredited institution;

  • Applicants with 1-2 years’ related experience would be considered an asset;

  • Experience with design of roadway and railway crossings would be considered an asset;

  • Familiar Civil 3D and AutoCAD

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently

  • Excellent technical, interpersonal and teamwork skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
