WSP is currently seeking a Survey Plan Checker / Drafter to join our Geomatics Team, located at our Fort St. John, BC office. Reporting to the Survey CAD Lead, this position will be responsible for performing survey calculations, plan checking and drafting.


  • Responsible for conducting survey calculations and plan checking for a variety of projects

  • Effectively perform quality assurance checks on collected survey data and plans, able to utilize industry and company standards in a fast paced team environment and work in a growing survey office

  • Use standard survey practices to efficiently draft accurate survey plans from information gathered in the field and office

  • Maintain familiarity with current techniques and developments

  • Actively work at improving drafting skills and increase current knowledge of surveying

  • Draft plans using the standards set out by WSP using current customizations

  • Ensure that the quality and accuracy of all plans for which you have responsibility meet WSP standards before they are sent in for checking


  • Geomatics Engineering Technologist certificate or other relevant technical training

  • 5 to 10 years' experience using AutoCAD and related software in the preparation of survey related plans

  • Excellent computer skills with a good understanding of AutoCAD Map and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D

  • An understanding of the basic principles of surveying and survey plan requirements

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with strict deadlines

  • Ability to work well as part of a team or on an individual basis

  • The capacity to learn new software and be open to new ideas

  • Ability to identify and set priorities; effective time management

  • Strong attention to detail
