Introduction

WSP Canada, an award winning and innovative multi-disciplinary engineering firm, is seeking a Lighting Designer for our Vancouver, BC office. WSP Canada works closely with clients from around the world on large, complex projects with a focus on sustainability and energy performance of the built environment.

About the Job

Supplement our Lighting team and provide design for a large variety of high-quality national and international projects, including institutional, commercial, health care, transportation and educational facilities including TI projects, civic plazas, landscape/parks, hotels and restaurants. Our Clients are top tier, internationally recognized Architects and Interior Designers. WSP Canada offers excellent growth opportunities. This is a full time permanent position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Day to Day project design
  • Implementation of design concepts
  • Perform lighting calculations and use results to determine project decisions
  • Lighting layouts and design
  • Control system design
  • Concept design and design research
  • Project and client management
  • Develop luminaire cutsheets and schedules
  • Apply day-lighting practices and techniques
  • Architectural coordination
  • Mentoring of junior staff

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4 year Architectural, Design, Engineering or Technology degree
  • 12+ years of experience in Lighting Design. (Project experience submitted for consideration should include projects on which you have actively participated in the project from the design phase through the final construction close-out.)
  • Strong creative skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of sustainable lighting strategies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on the ability to organize and   present design information to clients.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office, Adobe Suite, AGI32 is preferred
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE/IES 90.1 Standards, IES Standards and Guidelines and LEED Standards relative to Lighting
  • Membership with a Lighting or Illuminating Association, in good standing
  • Must be fluent in written and spoken English
  • International experience will be considered an asset
