Directory Services Engineer

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Directory Services Engineer will be responsible for the day to day administration of the Identity Management and Directory Services (Microsoft AD, MicroFocus NIM\NAM) environments for Simon Property Group.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Participate in overall architectural strategy and roadmaps for the Directory Services Infrastructure including: Active Directory, eDirectory, and Domino
  • Participate in overall architectural strategy and roadmaps for Identity Management environment and Single Sign-On (MicroFocus\NetIQ Identity and Access Manager)
  • Participate in overall architectural strategy and roadmaps for the Microsoft Patching environment and compliance monitoring tools
  • Participate in overall architectural strategy for infrastructure management and monitoring tools (SolarWinds)
  • Design infrastructure solutions by gathering business requirements, translating to physical requirements, and evaluating against capabilities of existing environments
  • Maintain Linux servers
  • Participate in overall project planning, tracking, issues resolution, vendor coordination, and execution for storage and server infrastructure
  • Responsible for the documentation of assigned environments
  • Assist infrastructure teammates in support of Simon’s infrastructure
  • Provide third tier help desk support for server and storage environments
  • Assist in the collection and preservation of asset tracking, inventory and licensing
  • Participate in the evolution and continuous improvement of the Change Control/Change Management process

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Thorough knowledge of Active Directory and associated technologies (GPO, Kerberos, DNS, LDAP, etc)
  • Thorough knowledge of SolarWinds monitoring tools
  • Working knowledge of MicroFocus\NetIQ IdM products
  • Working knowledge of VMWare, Linux, and Citrix (XenServer, XenApp, ShareFile, NetScaler)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, meet deadlines and see tasks through to completion
  • Acts in a way that demonstrates personal integrity
  • Self-motivated and strong team skills
  • Ability to use critical thinking and logic skills to analyze data, interpret results, and resolve issues.
  • Experience using scripting languages (i.e. PowerShell, Visual Basic)
  • Must be able to plan, organize and coordinate appropriate resources as needed for projects
  • Knowledge of various operating systems and applications (AD, Windows Server, eDirectory, Lotus Notes, Linux, AS400, etc.)
  • Ability to work with external providers in support of environment

EXPERIENCE:

  • Hands on experience managing an AD environment utilizing GPO’s and scripting.
  • Hands on experience managing a MicroFocus\NetIQ IdM environment
  • Hands on experience configuring, VMWare, Windows, and Linux Servers
  • Hands on experience with WSUS
  • Hands on experience with SolarWinds monitoring toolset
  • Requires 4 year degree or equivalent knowledge and  2 years IT experience
  • Experience managing LDAP directories
