Prepares electrical drawings/wiring diagrams to be used to construct, operate, and maintain distribution and transmission substation facilities. Transforms initial, rough project designs into working documents using computer-aided design/drafting (CADD) workstation, and file management system. Independent interpretation of design data and the selection and application of appropriate drafting standards, practices, and procedures is required. Prepares as-built drawings with accepted as-built practices and standards to ensure accurate engineering records. This activity includes drawing preparation from red-lined mark-ups, self-check, and drawing revision after check by project engineer/supervisor. All drawings should be complete and require a minimum of checking and revision. Position may represent drafting issues on corporate teams. Assists in CADD administrative functions. Mentors Associates in the use of CADD. Performs any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Education: Associates degree in CADD drafting or vocational technical degree in a related field. Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
Experience: Drafter II: 2 - 4 years AutoCAD drafting experience or related progressive work experience. 1 years in substation design, preferably electrical. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is required. Experience in Vault data management system is preferred.
Drafter III: 4 - 7 years AutoCAD drafting experience or related progressive work experience. 2 years in substation design, preferably electrical. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is required. Experience in Vault data management system is preferred.
Equivalent Experience: Drafter II: 6 - 8 years or Drafter III: 9-10 years CADD drafting experience in a related field using AutoCAD. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is required. Experience in Vault data management system is preferred.

Specialized Skills (e.g., typing, computers, software, tools and equipment uses, etc.): Strong analytical ability; Good interpersonal and human relation skills; good understanding of drafting tools, procedures and techniques; ability to pay close attention to details; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently; ability to work with changing priorities and exacting deadlines; ability to make periodic field trips as required; working knowledge of the electric power industry and substation facilities preferred.
Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.
