Engineer III or E-IV EM Engineer


Description

Engineer III:  This position will support SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), Metering, and MPLS/ Fiber Optics Telecommunications networks in electrical distribution and transmission stations.  Provides technical expertise to the System Control Center, which monitors and controls the substation equipment within the electrical distribution and transmission stations. Provides technical support to the field technicians that install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair the statewide SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition). Provides technical support to the field technicians that install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair the corporation's remotely revenue metering package and telecommunications. Assists in coordination of resources for Electronic Maintenance projects.

Experience: Three years of experience in a utility environment or one year of experience utilizing skills associated with communications protocol between Intelligent Equipment Devices with at least two years as a cooperative student in a utility environment.

Specialized Skills (e.g., typing, computers, software, tools and equipment uses, etc.): Working knowledge of volt-ohm meters, transmission test sets, vendor and standards technical references, and laptop PCs including fluent knowledge of Windows Operating System, Word, Excel, and Access Database. This knowledge must be at a level to support field technicians over the phone.

E-IV, EM Engineer:  This position will support SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), Metering, and MPLS/ Fiber Optics Telecommunications networks in electrical distribution and transmission stations. Provides technical capability in performing SCADA, metering, telecommunication network installations, commissioning, and maintenance functions of GTC facilities. Assists in coordinating and implementing EM projects related to substation automation, telecommunication network, including fiber optics, GTC Corporate Business Continuity Plan, Meter Calibration Program and Cyber Security Compliance. Provides SCADA, telecommunications, and metering expertise to other projects, departments and engineering process improvements where needed. Supports EM field personnel laptops and software applications, and possesses working knowledge of databases and networking technologies. Assists in leading the corporation's effort of identifying, studying, and implementing innovative uses of telecommunication, SCADA, and 3 phase power metering equipment. Provides input to management on annual budget, and monitors expenditures to comply with the approved budget.

Experience: Six years of experience in a utility environment with experience utilizing skills associated with communications protocol between Intelligent Equipment Devices. Working knowledge of the associated computer and telecommunications systems.

Specialized Skills (e.g., typing, computers, software, tools and equipment uses, etc.): E-IV - Six years of experience in a utility environment with experience utilizing skills associated with communications protocol between Intelligent Equipment Devices. Working knowledge of the associated computer and telecommunications systems. Electrical substation knowledge and familiar with process improvement tools. Possesses working knowledge of software business tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio and Access. Possesses working knowledge of communication protocols such as MODBUS, DNP3.0, & TEJAS V.

Education:  Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering

Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations:  Georgia Driver’s License


Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.
