EM Engineer I-III, Electronic Maintenance


Description

Engineer I - Assists with the GTC Electronic Maintenance Lab Program.  Provide support to field and engineering staff for the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system, telecommunication systems within distribution and transmission substations, and the Remote Revenue Metering system. Develop skills in the field and office that encompass all aspects of Electronic Maintenance functions. Provide support to project initiatives and gain proficiency with department applications and systems including NERC compliance. 

Engineer II - Assists in providing technical expertise to the System Control Center, which monitors and controls the substation equipment within electrical distribution and transmission stations.  Assist in providing technical support to the field technicians that install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair the statewide SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system, which provides the monitoring and control features of the System Control Center.  Assist in providing technical support to the field technicians that install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair the corporation’s remote revenue metering packages and telecommunications equipment in support of the corporate billing system that collects over a billion dollars annually.  The position assists with coordination of resources for Electronic Maintenance projects, including NERC CIP compliance.  Provide technical assistance and support to special department initiatives (i.e. substation automation, etc.) and research & development efforts.

Engineer III - Provides technical expertise to the System Control Center, which monitors and controls the substation equipment within electrical distribution and transmission stations.  Provide technical support to the field technicians that install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair the statewide SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system that provides the monitoring and control features of the System Control Center.  Provide technical support for the field technicians that install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair the corporation’s remotely accessible revenue metering package and telecommunications equipment in support of a billing system that collects over a billion dollars annually.  Assists in coordination of resources for Electronic Maintenance projects.

 

Education:  Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Electronic or Computer Engineering

Experience:  Zero to Three (0-3) years experience in a utility environment or zero to one (0-1) year experience utilizing skills involving communications protocol between Intelligent Equipment Devices with at least one year experience as a co-operative student in a utility environment.

Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations:  EIT Certification (preferred) and a valid Georgia's Driver's License

Specialized Skills (e.g., typing, computers, software, tools and equipment uses, etc.): Good verbal, written and presentation skills.  Experience in Microsoft Operating platform, Microsoft Office (Windows, Word, Excel, and Access Databases).  Working knowledge of volt-ohm meters, transmission test sets, vendor and standards technical references.  This knowledge must be at a level to support field technicians over the phone.  Ability to lift 50 pounds. 

Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.
