Development Manager, Ecosystem Platforms
|# of openings:||1|
Atlassian's development tools, like JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence and HipChat, help teams write code faster, smarter and more reliably. We want to bring that advantage to every development team in the world. Atlassian's tools are already used by millions of developers. If you want to improve the way software development is done, there's no better way to do it than with the Atlassian Developer platform.
Our development partners have made millions of dollars through Atlassian Marketplace. As an Atlassian Dev Manager for our Ecosystem platforms, you'll own and guide the teams that builds the platform our development partners will be building on for the next ten years, and you'll promote that platform to developers around the world.
We've embarked on ambitious new project to completely re-build the Atlassian Developer platform for modern web services. It's called Atlassian Connect, and you can read more about it in the docs. You'll work side-by-side with our team of platform developers to ensure that we're creating an API that you'll love to work with. You'll help us build a modern, web-native, API-focused platform from the ground up. You'll manage the Developer Relations team that crafts a developer experience that wows every developer who wants to build on our platform. You'll also manage the development strategy for Atlassian Marketplace, the final part of our developer platform. You'll own these experiences from end to end as product owner, and strategy thinker alongside and with the Ecosystem leadership team.
Platforms are pointless if no one builds on them, so this is not simply a developer role. Your team is responsible for building and growing the platform. You'll succeed with the developer experience you help guide and build, as well as the success of the developers who come through that experience.
More about you
We're looking for aptitude, drive, a cultural fit and someone with a passion for the developer platforms markets. You perhaps want to be a technical fellow or a general manager some day and want to get first hand experience doing a smaller scale version of the job. We hope you thrive on getting into the guts of a platform, designing great developer APIs and experiences, driving people across an organization to get projects done, and celebrating at the finish line. You're great at communicating and can influence change across teams. An interest in the business and product management are also keys to your success in the role. You're ideally steeped in platform APIs and have experience managing fast-moving development teams in the past. You're proud and keen to show us something; your Bitbucket or GitHub repo's, documentation you created, an API you designed or just one you think is really good, ...
