Position: Project Engineer

Reports To: Project Manager / Project Superintendent


PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION

The Project Engineer is accountable for the coordination and delivery of all engineering services required for the project between the Richmond Hill Office and site. The incumbent will ensure that engineering, construction drawings, specifications and general engineering coordination are available when required in order to complete all aspects of the project on time and within budget.

The Project Engineer will demonstrate DMC’s core values of: Zero Harm, Respect and Integrity, Entrepreneurial Spirit, and Operational Excellence.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Provide prominent organizational skills to support the construction team for surface and underground work.
2.Work closely with the Project Manager / Project Superintendent to ensure all requirements to execute the work is available and supported in a timely manner.
3.Recommend design or method improvements in a continuous effort to improve safety and productivity.
4.Participate in conjunction with the construction team to review all drawings, making recommendations.
5.Ensure that adequate measures are put in place to remedy any defects or deficiencies in engineering design.
6.Ensure that local regulations and company policies are complied with in respect to information provided, where applicable, on construction and maintenance designs.
7.Maintain at site a complete set of standards, specifications and drawings.
8.Work with design engineers in Richmond Hill ensuring all construction drawings are received on time and review these drawings making any required changes.
9.Complete all tasks assigned on the site safety compliance matrix.
10.Demonstrate personal commitment to safety and implement systems both in the office and on site to promote a ‘safety first’ culture.
 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

•A degree in mining, civil or structural engineering.
•Experience working in the mining industry, specifically on site
•Good written and oral communication skills
•Computer knowledge; Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, MS Project or P6
